Ya ‘Aziz ~ Physicians of the Heart
Ya ‘Aziz (yaa ‘a-ZEEZ) … When al-‘Aziz is viewed from the psychological perspective it brings up a particularly important crux theme for the ego structure. The human ego structure is made up of many layers, layers that ultimately defend against major wounds. There is a major wound of humiliation, a wound of shame which most people carry. It is the result of experiences in your life in relation to others. And, at another level, there is a wound of shame also caused by our relationship with God, because many of us feel abandoned by God. The biggest enemy here to psychological growth is the act of fixing onto the sense of an isolated small self, when actually you need to identify with a much bigger reality. The instinctive identification with a wound-engendered construct of self is what leads to our entrapment.
